The CAO received a Special Mention for “Technical Achievement” in the Prix Régional de la Construction Bois 2024.
The CAO, Fibois Île-de-France 2024 favourite!
We are delighted and proud to announce that the Saint-Denis Aquatic Centre, designed by VenhoevenCS architecture+urbanism and Ateliers 2/3/4/ under the supervision of the Greater Paris Metropolitan Authority, has been awarded the Special Mention for “Technical Achievement” in the Prix Régional de la Construction Bois 2024.
The jury, chaired by Marion Waller, Managing Director of the Pavillon de l’Arsenal, Gaston Tolila and Nicholas Gilliland, founder of Tolila + Gilliland, awarded this “out of category” distinction in recognition of “a masterpiece of architecture and engineering that paves the way for new large-scale facilities in wood”, the fruit of a collective effort carried out with all our partners, including Bouygues Bâtiment Ile-de-France, schlaich bergermann partner sbp and Mathis SAS.
The facility stands out for :
– the synergy of the innovations implemented and the use of bio-sourced and recycled materials in a simple, lightweight construction system;
– its wooden structure, which contributes to the architecture of the site, giving it both its identity and its warm atmosphere;
– its exceptional environmental performance, exceeding the targets set by the Greater Paris metropolitan area.
Designed with the younger generation in mind, the Aquatic Centre stands out as a new architectural landmark and an example of bio-sourced design at the heart of the Metropole.
Our warmest thanks go to all the members of the jury and the organisers, especially Marie Coatantiec and Kassandra Paul.
Congratulations to the winners of this year’s 2024 competition, and a big well done and thank you to all our partners: the Greater Paris Metropolitan Area (contracting authority), Bouygues Bâtiment Ile-de-France (lead contractor) with Récréa, Dalkia and Omnes Capital, SOCOTEC, Bouygues Construction and many others (see visuals).
